The annual youth festival, "Thomso 2022" was celebrated at IIT Roorkee campus from October 14th to 16th. During the three-day event, the institute hosted various events like a fashion parade, rock show, professional night, and lectures by key personalities from various fields. Live performances were also conducted where singer Sanam Puri and his band performed on October 14th, 15th and 16th of October respectively.

IIT Roorkee team scales Friendship Peak in Pir Panjal in Himachal Pradesh

In an expedition conducted by the Himalayan Explorers Club (HEC) of IIT Roorkee, eighteen students completed Friendship Peak (5289 m) expedition from September 21-25, 2022. Located near Manali in Himachal Pradesh, the crew was led by Ankit Dudi and Omkar Tiwari, graduate students at IIT Roorkee.

IIT-Roorkee develops a "cancer detector" and transfers its technology to Tata Steel

A team of researchers at IIT-Roorkee has developed an easy-to-use breath-based cancer detector (BLO). It will be used for early detection of cancer and will work on the principles of colorimetry.
According to the researchers, this device will be able to detect the presence of breast, lung, and oral cancer.

IIT-Roorkee has come up with a state-of-the-art laboratory—'Rock & Fluid Multiphysics'— which will contribute to the petroleum engineering profession, groundwater exploration and resource characterisation. The lab was inaugurated by Padma Bhushan awardee Shri Vijay Kumar Saraswat, a member of Niti Aayog on October 3rd, 2022.
