IIT Roorkee researchers have discovered a molecule, IITR08367, which enhances the antibiotic fosfomycin's effectiveness against drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii. This breakthrough, featured on the cover of ACS Infectious Diseases, represents a significant advancement in combating antibiotic-resistant infections. The team, led by Prof. Ranjana Pathania, is developing IITR08367 for clinical trials, underscoring IIT Roorkee's commitment to impactful global health research.

Pant, the panel included 13 experts led by Dr. K.M. Paknikar. During the session, 328 proposals were screened to select projects that will advance water resources technology.

IIT Roorkee and FORVIA Hella India Lighting Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to pioneer solutions for future mobility. This partnership will initiate advanced research collaborations, student internships, Prime Minister Fellowships for Doctoral Research, specialized courses and workshops for Hella employees, and hackathons and exhibitions at IIT Roorkee. The collaboration aims to enhance societal development and environmental sustainability through education and innovation. Additionally, Hella will support IITR's research and education through their CSR activities. The reunion brought together 40 alumni and their families, creating a lively atmosphere filled with joy, laughter, and music. It provided a platform for alumni to reconnect, reminisce about their academic journeys, and share professional anecdotes. The event strengthened bonds among attendees, celebrating shared experiences and achievements while highlighting the enduring community forged during their time at Electrical Engineering. Prof. UP Singh, Deputy Director, and Prof. R.D. Garg, Dean of Resources & Alumni Affairs at IIT Roorkee, honored the occasion with their presence, emphasizing the institution's commitment to alumni engagement and support.

Shri Hari Mohan Gupta Appointed as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of IRCON:

Shri Hari Mohan Gupta, an Indian Railway Officer of 1989 Batch (Indian Engineering Services, IES-89), graduated in Civil Engineering in 1988 from University of Roorkee. Before joining IRCON, he was holding the position of Director (Infrastructure) of DFCCIL (Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited) for almost 4 years. During this tenure as Director/Infra/DFC, 1404 Route Kms (3173 Track Kms) double line electrified with automatic signaling of WDFC has been Commissioned. He worked as Executive Director (Works) in Ministry of Railways, Railway Board, New Delhi from 23-04-2019 to 12-10-2020.

With extensive leadership experience spanning Asia, Europe, and Africa, Ashwani previously held significant roles at GE, managing supply chain, program management, and quality. He began his career at Larsen & Toubro in Mumbai and is involved with the Manufacturing Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in India. Prof. Anant Kumar Pant: Retired Electrical Engineering Professor, IIT Roorkee :(BE - Electrical - 1964):
|
|
|
Shri Pant Ji passed away on June 11, 2024. Prof. Anant Kumar Pant graduated from the University of Roorkee in 1964 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and later earned a PhD from the University of Sussex, UK. He is known for his supportive nature towards his batch mates, he progressed through various roles at the university, becoming a full Professor of Electrical Engineering in 1980. He worked as Dean of Academic Affairs and Dean of Students’ Welfare, IIT Roorkee. After retiring in 2005, he served as Director and Professor at the Birla Institute of Applied Sciences in Bhimtal. In 2022, he organized the 60th anniversary celebration for the Class of 1964. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Abha Pant, and their three daughters: Mandakini, Kaveri, and Meghna Pant.
