IIT Roorkee alumni and their families came together over lunch to welcome the Director Dr. Ajit Chaturvedi to the Washington DC area. Dr. Chaturvedi provided updates on the progress in IIT Roorkee in academics, research, and the student and staff experience in the campus. It was a wonderful afternoon full of alma mater pride, reminiscences, and camaraderie. The afternoon was made truly special by the presence of two of the most respected members of the IIT Roorkee family: Mrs. Srivastava, wife of Late Shri JN Srivastava, a graduate of 1948 batch, and Mr. RS Bhatnagar, a graduate of 1950 batch.

Alumni Meet in New Jersey, USA

Alumni in the east coast of USA celebrated the 175th year of IIT Roorkee in New Jersey, USA over lunch on 18th June, 2022. Alumni from several batches joined the event along with their families. The program included music, dance, poems, humour, sharing memories of IITR etc. Prof. Ajit Chaturvedi, Director IIT Roorkee addressed the get together over Zoom and shared recent updates from the campus.

IIT Roorkee alumni in Austin area hosted their 5th annual meet in Austin, Texas. Alumni ranging from classes over the period 1992-2015 participated, along with their family members. The simple fun meetup which was first organized in 2017 created such a strong bond that it has been organized every year since then.

IIT Roorkee has improved its position by 31 places in the recently published QS World University Rankings 2023. The Institute is ranked at 369, which also happens to be the best ever QS rank achieved by IIT Roorkee. Within the country, the Institute has improved its overall QS rank by one place and has been ranked at the 7th position.

Bio NEST Bio incubator Inauguration

IIT Roorkee opened the Bio Incubator facility. The facility was inaugurated by Prof. Ajit Chaturvedi, Director of IIT Roorkee, and Dr. Manish Diwan, Head SPED, BIRAC. The Bioincubation Center aimed to assist start-ups in biotechnology and related fields by providing state-of-the-art labs and equipment, technical and business mentorship and funding.

IIT Roorkee campus has 304 different plant species according to a Biodiversity Report prepared by the Wildlife Institute of India (WII). The study which was commissioned by IIT Roorkee as a part of the 175th year celebrations is the first documentation of the flora and fauna of the campus.
