Celebration:

Republic Day with
a grand event
showcasing unity

diversity. The day
began with a
gathering of
students, faculty
and staff, with
the Director's

Kulgeet. The Flag
Unfurling
ceremony,
accompanied by the
National Anthem.
Cultural
performances from
ABN Senior
Secondary School
and IIT Roorkee's
Cultural Society

Future of Water
Resources (ICFWR-
2024) took place
from January 18 to
20, 2024,
organized by the
Indian Water
Resources Society
(IWRS) in
collaboration with
the Department of
Water Resources
Development and
Management at the
Indian Institute
of Technology
Roorkee.
Celebrating the
45th anniversary
of IWRS, the
conference focused
on critical water
challenges, with
key themes
including water
availability,
supply and demand
management,
urbanization's
impact on water
demand, and
climate change
effects.
ICFWR-2024
featured approx.
30 distinguished
speakers who
shared insights
into water
resources
management,
climate change,
water pollution,

Deepak Mathur on
his new role as
IEEE Vice
President
overseeing IEEE

Activities. Deepak
Mathur, an Alumnus
of IIT Roorkee in
India, has served
IEEE in various
capacities over
the last two
decades. From his
role as Director
of IEEE's Asia
Pacific region in
2021-2022 to his
involvement with
the IEEE-Eta Kappa
Nu Honor Society
and past
chairmanship of
the IEEE India
Council, Deepak
has consistently
demonstrated his
commitment to
advancing the
field of
engineering. His
contributions have
been recognized
through
prestigious awards
such as the IEEE
Asia Pacific
Region Outstanding
Volunteer Award,
IEEE MGA
Achievement Award,
and the IEEE India
Council Lifetime
Achievement Award.

Lohati has
been
appointed
as the new
chairperson
of the
Telecom
Regulatory
Authority
of India
(Trai).
Former
chairman
and chief
executive
officer of
the
Railway
Board,
Lahoti
graduated
with a
gold medal
from
Madhav
Institute
of
Technology
and
Science,
Gwalior.
He also
holds a
Master of
Engineering
in
Structures
from the
University
of Roorkee
(IIT,
Roorkee).
Lahoti's
professional
journey
led him to
become an
officer of
the Indian
Railway
Service of
Engineers,
belonging
to the
1984
batch. He
was also
appointed
in the
first
panel of
the Indian
Railways
Management
Service at
Level-17.

IITRAAN held its
engagement event
on January 27,
2024, in
Kathmandu. The
association also
conducted its
Annual General
Meeting during the
event, which was
chaired by IITRAAN

presented the
activities of
IITRAAN for the
Fiscal Year
2022-23. Some

establishment of

establishment of

Souvenir was the
